Drew ..... WOW! I really needed today (Really shitty time, my ex's birthday and eldest daughters within 3 days of one another)... Quite epic and so so true... Hats of to you Sir.

Some good advice here.
Same for me, kids do not want to know but are in their 20's anyway so living their own life. Such a shame as we were really close when they were younger.
On the house issue, if she is leaving for France and you can afford to pay her the equity owed (if any) there is no reason why you cannot keep house. I did this, she got her share of the equity and all the furniture, quite funny really, sat on the floor with nothing for weeks until i could buy second hand furniture! those were the days......she did leave me the car so i could get to work to keep her payments up, which was kind.
