estranged father abroad
#1
Hi,

New to the forum, living in Australia last 6/7 years not seen my daughter (from Glasgow) in 14 years, no contact at all.
As she is now well in her teenage years I want to start to try and make contact but not sure if I can legally contact her before she is 18.

About a year after she was born , as our realationship broke down  there were very little in the way of fathers rights, as I was an unmarried foreign national in the UK I had zero rights as I was "ONLY legally her natural father" those were the words my solicitor used.

I don't really know where to start or how to go about this in the right way, any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for reading

First off - are you on the birth certificate?

I am going to assume this will be under Scottish Law (which is a little different)
The opinions here are not that of Separated Dads, but merely a loving father who has been through the process and has come out the other side.
